Eigentlich braucht jede Band, die etwas auf sich hält, irgendeinen legendären Gründungsmythos. Eine Geschichte, deren Details über die Jahre an den Kanten immer weiter ausfransen, bis am Ende etwas dabei raus kommt, das in etwa so authentisch daher kommt wie die Geschichte von Robert Johnson (der Anfang des Jahrhunderts seine Seele dem Teufel verkaufte, um bessere Songs schreiben zu können) oder dem Ende Bon Scotts, der an seiner eigenen Kotze erstickte. So oder so... Kult wird gemacht durch Übertreibung und Weglassen.

Suicide City is one of the last punk bands to emerge from their hometown club C.B.G.B.’s of NYC before its closing in October of 2006. The quintet-- guitarist Billy Graziadei (ex-Biohazard) and bassist Jennifer Arroyo (ex-Kittie) along with vocalist Karl Bernholtz, guitarist A.J. Marchetta, and drummer Dan Lamagna-- has spent the past four years touring North and South America in support of their independently released five song EP, 'Not My Year.' The EP became an underground favorite and Suicide City quickly built a following on its strength.

Sendak provozierte, brach Tabus, denn „Where The Wild Things Are“ handelt von Wut und Rebellion, nimmt die destruktiven Gefühle und Machtfantasien eines Neunjährigen ernst. Seine grundehrlichen, kompromisslosen Bücher sprengten den Rahmen. Sendak hat so ziemlich jeden internationalen Preis gewonnen, der im Kinderliteratur-Genre vergeben wird, darunter den "Living Legend“-Award der American Library of Congress.

Citing Argentinean film score composer Gustavo Santaolalla and British folk legend Bert Jansch as influences, his new album “Slow Attack” sees Brett Anderson exploring the abstract rather than the lyrical, choosing to abandon traditionally narrative songs and instead, as he himself puts it, ousing words as impressionistic brushstrokes. In equal parts both cinematic and pastoral, the album’s instrumentation heavily features woodwind and stringed instruments, lending it a gorgeously rich quality. Perhaps taking inspiration from the amorphous beauty of solo Mark Hollis / late Talk Talk, this, Brett's third solo album seems to exist in its own space and time.

Though the band’s fourth full-length offering The World I Want To Leave Behind features a number of “firsts,” Moneen vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Kenny Bridges assures us that this isn’t a new band: “We weren’t trying to reinvent ourselves as much as we were trying out some things that we would have been scared of on previous records.”
One wouldn’t think a band that’s effortlessly able to weave such a wide array of influences into their output would be “scared” to try anything. After all, Moneen has always thrived on their trademark melee of melodic components – pop that has no business being so profound; rock that shouldn’t be so ambient; punk that has no right being so delicate. While that familiar formula is what ultimately drives The World I Want To Leave Behind, Bridges, bassist Erik Hughes, guitarist/vocalist Chris “Hippy” Hughes, and new drummer Steve Nunnaro have slightly shifted their take on songwriting this time out.

3 Alben, 100 Konzerte im Jahr, gemeinsame Auftritte mit Legenden wie Dickey Betts, ZZ Top oder Deep Purple – so liest sich das bisherige Lebenswerk des erst 18-jährigen Ausnahmegitarristen Jimmy Bowskills. Musik bestimmte seit jeher das Leben von Jimmy und früh war klar, dass er seine Leidenschaft zum Beruf machen wollte. Er ist nicht nur ein talentierter Gitarrist und Sänger, sondern schreibt auch alle seine Songs selbst. Sein drittes, nach ihm benanntes Studioalbum ist geprägt durch die Einflüsse seiner Heimatstadt Toronto, woraus sein ganz eigener, unverkennbarer Blues-Rock Sound entstanden ist.
Mit diesem Sound hatte er im Januar 2009 für Furore in Deutschland gesorgt: Als „Special Guest“ supportete er die Tour der Kultband „Wishbone Ash“ und hinterließ in jedem Club sowohl begeisterte Veranstalter, beeindrucktes Publikum und sensationelle Pressekritiken: Jimmy Bowskill schlug in Deutschland ein wie eine Bombe, das positive Feedback war so überwältigend, dass schnell feststand, dass der Künstler so bald wie möglich wieder auf Tour kommen sollte. Im November ist es nun endlich soweit und Jimmy kommt für neun exklusive Clubshows zurück nach Deutschland!
